We hold our club nights at the Wallaroo Town Hall, Irwine Street WALLAROO South Aust.
We hold a regular club night on Monday evenings, from 7:30pm till 9:30pm.
Usually, our members receive a reminder text message to confirm start time.
The last Monday of the month is a “Themed” dress-up night.
These nights are free, however we ask that you bring a plate of supper to share.
Annual Spring Dance (Oct Long Week End) featuring top bands and DJs is well supported.
Check flyers and calendars for dates.
Usually the first hour is freestyle dancing with some instruction, then we break for supper and share club news. After supper we enjoy sequence and partner dancing.
Of course you can, join in if you like, the first four visits are free.
Definitely not. If you know your left from your right and can count to six, you can learn to rock n roll.
Wear comfortable casual, close fitting clothes and comfortable shoes with non grip soles.
Bring a bottle of water. Usually there is tea, coffee and a biscuit (two, if you’re good). No alcohol or bar facilities.
Visitors and prospective members are welcome and may dance for free for the first 4 visits. Regular attendance is $5.00 per night, plus $5.00 annual membership.
Generally booking is not necessary. Our social dance groups are informal by nature and on a casual basis. Please drop in and say hello!
Singles are welcome. While we can’t guarantee a partner for you, we do our best to have someone partner you.
Difficult to answer as everyone is different. We try not to rush and allow people to learn at their own pace.
We don’t have qualified dance instructors or formal lessons. Our more experienced members provide their time freely to demonstrate and encourage people to dance to the music of the 50s and 60s.
We cater for many styles and variations of Rock n Roll,. The faster beats suit Rockabilly, Lindy Hop and Pub Rock styles. The medium to slower beats are easier to learn and commonly use 6 beat patterns, similar to Jive and East Coast Swing. We also demonstrate and practice the increasingly popular partner dances.
Children under 16 yrs must be accompanied by an adult. Due to the risk of injury to both children and couples dancing, we discourage children on the dance floor.
We don’t promote competition dancing and encourage dancing to be fun and joyful.
