We hold a regular dance groups on Monday evenings, from 7:30pm till 9:30pm.

The last Monday of the month is a “Themed” dress-up night.
These nights are free, however we ask that you bring a plate of supper to share.

After supper the format is predominately demonstrating the popular partner dances.

Can I just come and watch?

Of course you can, join in if you like, the first four visits are free.

Do I need any previous dance experience to learn?

Definitely not. If you can walk, you can learn to rock n roll, you just need to keep the beat.

What do I wear?

Wear comfortable fitting clothes and comfortable shoes. Sandshoes and runners have too much grip are not recommended. Thongs and slip on shoes are extremely dangerous and difficult to dance in.

Bring a bottle of water. Usually there is tea, coffee and a biscuit available.

$5.00 per night, however if you are new to the group, the first four nights are free.
Then we charge $5.00 membership and $5.00 per night.

Do I need to book to join in?

No, booking is not necessary. Our social dance groups are informal by nature and on a casual basis.

Do I need a partner?

While we can’t guarantee a partner for you, we do our best to have someone partner you.

How long does it take to learn to dance?

Difficult to answer as everyone is different. We try not to rush and allow people to learn at their own pace.

What style of dance do you teach?

We don’t actually have registered dance instructors. Our more experienced members provide their time freely to demonstrate and encourage people to dance to the music of the 50s and 60s.

There are many styles and variations of Rock n Roll dance, the faster beats suit Rockabilly, Lindy Hop and Pub Rock styles. The medium to slower beats are easier to learn and commonly uses 6 beat patterns, similar to Jive and East Coast Swing. We also demonstrate and practice the increasingly popular partner dances.

Can children come along?

Of course children can come along and are expected to be under the control of accompanying adult.
We feel the best option for children is to come and watch rather than participate as we don’t have the necessary trained or approved children’s instructors nor hold the special insurance covers required to cater for children. Due to the risk of injury to both children and couples dancing, we discourage children on the dance floor.

Do you have club competitions?

We don’t promote competition dancing and encourage dancing to be fun and joyful.
